Test - K-9 Supervisors

The Trained Dog is placed with the assigned Handler prior to the Course for bonding.
The Course then begins after the Bonding Period (10 days)
Then Handler is taught “How to Work the Trained Dog”.
All of the courses are certified by Canine Unlimited, State of Oklahoma or North American Police Work Dog Association.
Patrol -
This is an intense 80 hour course that covers:
Obedience – Building Search- Tracking – Criminal Apprehension
Drug Detection-
80 hour course covering:
Vehicle Search – Building
Search for the following odors; Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine
Explosive Detection-
80 hour course covering:
Vehicle Search – Aircraft
Search – Building Search – Luggage for the following odors: TNT, C-4, Dynamite, Powders, Tovex, Water-Gel, Det-Cord
This is a 10 day course for graduates of a certifiable Police Service Dog Course. The handlers are given Advanced Instruction in the following areas:
Court Testimony – Maintenance
Records – In-Service Training Techniques – Individual Handler Skill
Level Tests – Selection Testing for K-9’s
Instructors Development Course
This is a 21 day course for students that have completed a Handler/Advanced Handlers Course. During this course an un-trained dog is assigned to the student and the methods and techniques to develop the canine are introduced
.
This is a one on one ratio of student/trainer per class in this course of instruction.
NOTE: All of the above courses are furnished with written material furnished by Canine Unlimited.
Work Shops for N.A.P.W.D.A. Certification Test
To qualify for a Test of Police Service Dogs in this area the following must be met:
- Current Member in NAPWDA
- Pass the Obedience Phase
(the obedience phase must be passed before continuing on to the Total Patrol Certification)
3. Narcotic or Explosive Areas of the Test: only one incorrect response is allowed to attain certification.
4. The certifications are good for two years.
5. A fee of $45.00 per year (October to October)
Oscar Hall is a certified Master Trainer in all of the above area since 1978.
Something to Remember:
ONLY Master Trainers can Certify Dogs in the NAPWDA
This is a two week course to be attended adjunct with the Patrol, Drug or Explosive Courses. The Student/Supervisor Course is designed for the Supervisor of K9 Teams and not for the Handlers.
